Course Overview

This 1 day training course replaces the former ‘Appointed Person’ course and is suitable for employers who have identified a requirement for Emergency First Aiders in their first aid needs assessment. This course is run within the guidance set out in the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

Duration

Typically this course is delivered in 1 day. However the mandatory 6 hours required by the HSE can also be delivered over a longer period of time should staff availability be a problem to your organisation.

Pre-Requisites

None, candidates must be physically able to carry out the detailed procedures (see course overview)

Assessment

The HSE no longer require an independent assessment of Emergency First Aid at Work candidates. Throughout the course you will be continually monitored and assessed. Along with a multiple choice question paper on the final afternoon

Course Accreditation

This course is valid for 3 years from the date of completion. However the HSE recommend an update at least once a year.

Renewal

To renew or refresh your Emergency at Work First Aid Certificate (EFAW), you will need to take the EFAW training course again once it has expired after 3 years. This is so you are aware of new techniques and advancements which will help you provide more effective treatment.
